The Wedding Singer (1998)

 

This is the quintessential 80s movie. Arguably one of Sandler's best roles. I'd forgotten that he had two romantic leads with Barrymore, the second with 50 First Dates. She was terrific here as well. The soundtrack was phenomenal. What a fun, uplifting film.

Second time viewing this dark masterpiece by David Cronenberg. Viggo Mortensen is a natural resource. The title is pregnant with truth and the film laden with the power of the subtext from beginning to end. There is no non-crucial supporting acting here as well, including stellar performances by Maria Bello, Ed Harris and William Hurt.
